Alcoholic drinks are very high in calories, so if you want to lose weight you'll need be careful about the amount you drink. For good health, women should have no more than 2 units of alcohol a day and men no more than 3. However to lose weight, we suggest no more than 1 unit a day for women and no more than 2 units a day for men.

Here a few suggestions to help you cut down your alcohol intake

Beware of high calorie bar snack like nuts and crisps
  • Have at least 1 or 2 alcohol free days a week
  • Extend alcoholic drinks with water or low kcal mixer e.g. white wine spritzer instead of wine on its own
  • Choose smaller drinks e.g. avoid double shots or large glasses
